Buying a Home

Buying a home is one of the most important decision one makes in the course of their life. There are so many facets of this decision and the process is never exactly the same for any two people. My approach is to deeply understand my clients’ desires and needs so I can guide them towards the property they will not only be happy with the day they move in, but will still love 10 years down the line. I start by getting to know you:

  1. WHY - What is motivating your move? What are your goals and intentions?

  2. WHAT - What are the basic parameters of a property to meet your needs? How many bedrooms and bathrooms? How much square feet do you need?

  3. WHERE - Do you know the neighborhoods you want to live in? Do you want my help to figure out what parts of town best suit your lifestyle?

  4. WHEN - Do you understand the current market conditions? Is it a buyer’s market or a seller’s market? Is it a good time to buy or would it be advantageous to wait for different market conditions?

  5. WHO - Who will be living in the property? Are there school age children who need to be close to specific schools or activities? Do one or more people commute to work and need to be close to a specific highway or road? Do you like to walk to dinner and shopping?

The Process

The home buying process can be exciting and sometimes stressful. Having an agent you trust to guide you through the process can help you feel at ease every step of the way.

Step 1 - Select an Agent

Identify a real estate agent who understands you, who understands the market and who makes the process fun (HINT: That’s me!).

Step 2 - Prepare Financially

Saving for a downpayment and improving credit scores are often necessary for getting financially ready to buy a home. Sometimes it can take a few months to prepare. I can provide you with the knowledge and planning tools to become financially ready to make a home purchase.

Step 3 - Get Pre-Approved

I will recommend top tier local lenders who can show you the types of loans and the amount you qualify for.

Step 4 - Search for Homes

As your agent, I’ll help you identify both on-market and off-market properties to tour.

Step 5 - Make an Offer

When you’ve found the right one, I will help you craft the perfect offer in any market conditions to get the home you want under contract.

Step 6 - Escrow

Typically an escrow period lasts about 30 days and includes inspections, other due diligence on the property, an appraisal and loan approval.

Step 7 - Closing

The last step of the process is the signing of documents and funding of a loan that closes the sale. After closing, it’s time to move and settle into your new home!
